Staff Spotlight
Tracie Holmes
Health Information Manager
Pronouns: She/her/hers
LHC: Tell us a little about yourself. Where did you grow up? How did you get here?
Tracie: I grew up here in NH but my family is from New York; we go back frequently for family events and visits. GO YANKEES!
LHC: What do you like most about working at Lamprey Health Care?
Tracie: Our dedicated staff, working with such a great group helps take the ‘work’ out of the job! I like that we help patients get the care they need and we do it with such kindness.
LHC: Did you always want to work in healthcare?
Tracie: Not really, even though my mother is a retired Pediatric Nurse. I started at Dartmouth and in 2003 moved to Nashua Area Health Center (the previous name of Lamprey Health Care Nashua Center) when a friend of mine told me about an opening (it was only a temporary 3 month position.) Fast forward years later and I was working with Paula Smith’s fantastic team at NH AHEC (Area Health Education Center, which is part of Lamprey Health Care) as a Program Coordinator while I worked on my degree. Then, I slid into managing the medical records department (which, of course, is only temporary until the position is filled!)
What would you do if you weren’t doing this?
Tracie: My dream job would be working at St. Jude or Boston Children’s Hospital. I have a degree in Human Services and Early Childhood Education and studied to be a child advocate. I would love to be working with children as a Child Life Specialist or in any capacity. Years ago, I saw a slogan that has always stuck with me, “It shouldn’t hurt to be a child.” I’d like to do my part to make sure that statement is true.
LHC: What are some of your favorite things to do outside of work?
Tracie: I love spending time with my nieces and nephews. With 6 of them, they keep me very busy. I am always running from one of their activities to another! I like going for walks, seeing Broadway plays, traveling with my family, and when I get the chance, ax throwing. (Still working on my aim!)
LHC: What advice would you give to others to be healthy?
Tracie: Laugh a lot and often, have friends that make you laugh even when you can’t. Hang around with kids, they keep you young and seeing the world a new way every day. Try not to take yourself too seriously. What do you get when a short psychic breaks out of jail? ………………… a small medium at large :-)
LHC Bonus Question: Is there anything else you’d like to share?
Tracie: What did the blanket say when it fell off the bed? ……. Oh sheet! I may look innocent but if there are shenanigans happening at Lamprey Health Care it’s a good guess that I was instigated! Also, I have a confession to make to our CEO: Sorry Greg, I was the mastermind behind your Yankee office decorations. (By the way, Stephanie V and Stacy A made me type that, they are the actual instigators behind all the shenanigans!)
