We work with compassion, empathy and kindness, listening closely to patients while providing excellent medical care.

Our History
Lamprey Health Care was founded in 1971 in Newmarket, NH, as an information and referral service to connect people to health services. Today, we are the largest federally qualified health center (FQHC) in New Hampshire with locations in Newmarket, Raymond, and Nashua, providing critical, integrated health care and support services to about 17,000 patients regardless of their ability to pay.
Our dedicated health professionals ensure each cherished patient has access to high-quality healthcare services.

Founded in 1971
Founded in 1971 by a group of concerned citizens, Lamprey Health Care began as an information and referral service to connect people to health services. The group quickly realized the need for more community-based service providers.
1972 - 1973
In 1972, the group started the Senior Transportation program, and in 1973, the first primary care office opened in Newmarket, NH.

Location Expansion
In 1981, the organization added a location in Raymond, NH. Over the decades, the Newmarket and Raymond centers moved and expanded facility space to meet the growing community needs. In 2000, the Nashua Center was added, located in the downtown area.
Added Programs & Services
Prenatal care was added in the 80s and school-based dental care in the 90s. In the 2000s, we added integrated behavioral health, substance use disorder services, medication-assisted therapy, and the Nurse Practitioner Fellowship Program.

2025
Became the largest FQHC in New Hampshire, serving 17,000 patients in 40 communities. Awarded 4 HRSA awards recognizing excellence in patient care and health outcomes. Awarded 2 American Heart Association GOLD Awards for patient control in Blood Pressure and Cholesterol Levels.

2024
Co-CEO Model
2024 marked the first full year of our Co-CEO model, a partnership balancing mission and financial sustainability. The model combines complementary skills and perspectives, fostering a solid and balanced approach when navigating an often uncertain landscape, which results in cost savings and marked progress toward strategic goals.
Collaborations
We have also grown our community collaborations. In 1997, we established the Southern NH Area Health Education Center, and in 2015 we became the fiscal agent for the Seacoast Public Health Network.

Partnerships With Purpose
Increasing collaboration with like-minded organizations across medical, dental, educational and social services sectors to offer affordable access to care and resources that elevate the patient experience and set the stage for better health outcomes.
Technology
Launched a strategic focus on researching and using technology and AI that improve patient outcomes medically and experientially.

Future of Lamprey
As we look to the future, we’re excited to build on our legacy of exceptional, compassionate, individualized medical service while launching a bold new three-year strategic plan.
