Lamprey Health Care Launches New Moms Support Group

Lamprey Health Care is helping new mothers find something every parent needs: a village.

Launched this spring, the weekly New Moms Support Group brings together moms and young children in a welcoming, judgment-free space to connect, share experiences, and support one another through the challenges and joys of early parenthood. The group averages five mothers and six children each week and tackles topics ranging from postpartum mental health and self-care to relationships, child development, sleep, and stress.

To further expand access to education and support, the group will feature monthly guest speakers focused on topics important to maternal and child wellness. Upcoming sessions include a presentation by Molly of Inspired Yoga on pelvic floor health and parent-child yoga, as well as a visit from Child Development Specialist Randy Tallent, who will answer questions and share guidance on child development. These community partnerships help connect mothers with trusted local resources while strengthening the support network available to families.

“One of the most powerful aspects of this group is watching mothers realize they are not alone,” said Julie Mills. “The conversations are driven by the moms themselves, and each week they bring honesty, courage, and support for one another. We’re creating a space where mothers can build confidence, find connection, and strengthen their own well-being while supporting each other through the journey of parenthood.”

Led by Mills and supported by Lamprey’s multidisciplinary care team, the group is already creating lasting impact beyond its weekly meetings. One participating mom recently launched a Facebook community, New Hampshire Village Moms, giving local mothers another way to stay connected, share resources, and support one another between sessions.

“This group is about reminding moms that they don’t have to navigate this chapter alone,” said Julie Mills, MSW, LICSW. “We see the relief that comes when someone realizes their experience is shared—that their questions, their worries, even their tough days are completely normal. That connection can be as important as any clinical care we provide.”

The New Moms Support Group is free and open to all community members, reflecting Lamprey Health Care’s commitment to caring for the whole person and strengthening families through connection, support, and community.
