LHC: Tell us a little about yourself. Where did you grow up? How did you get here?

Kimberly: I grew up in Plaistow, NH with my parents and sister. I enjoy the small town feel and that no matter where I go, there's someone I know. I went to UMass Lowell after high school, and graduated in 2014 with a bachelor's degree in nursing. I began my career working in a psychiatric inpatient setting with children and teens for 5 years. I got married in 2019 and then made a career move to Lamprey in February of 2020, right before the pandemic struck.

LHC: What do you like most about working at Lamprey Health Care?

Kimberly: There are many things that I enjoy about working at Lamprey but my top three would be:

  1. Feeling that I've had the opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of my patients and the community while not allowing financial status to be a barrier in whether care is provided.
  2. Being able to come to work and be surrounded and supported by such a strong and caring staff.
  3. Having the flexibility to be a wife and a mother as well as explore my career goals without feeling that I'm being pulled in either direction. Having a work life balance.

LHC: Did you always want to work in healthcare? What would you do if you weren't doing this?

Kimberly: My goal for as long as I can remember is to make an impact, I want to leave this world better than I found it. This dream stemming back to childhood, put me on a career path in health care. I had considered being a firefighter, a paramedic, and a soldier, but ultimately, the strong opinion of my father led me to nursing, and I'm grateful for that. I feel that nursing is not a job, it's not a career, it's a piece of yourself that is simply polished with education and experience.

LHC: What are some of your favorite things to do outside of work?

Kimberly: I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, going to Zumba, dancing, traveling, helping out in my community, and most importantly, spending time with my husband raising our daughter and cat Nicholas!

LHC: What advice would you give to others to be healthy?

Kimberly: The best advice that I can give someone who is seeking health is to start with your mind. Your brain is the central network of your body, if you're able to achieve mental clarity, sound decision making, control your emotional responses, and rational processing then making healthy choices for the remainder of your physiology becomes easier. Also smile, laugh, find what makes you happy, rest, breathe, cry, experience life. That is all healthy!
