Spanish Interpreter
Pronouns: she/her/hers
Meet Adriana Torres, one of our Spanish interpreters at the Nashua Center! Adriana helps Spanish-speaking patients navigate their care by making sure language isn’t a barrier. Her work is all about clear communication and ensuring everyone feels heard and confident throughout their health care journey.
LHC: Tell us a little about yourself. Where did you grow up? How did you get here?
Adriana: I grew up in Habana, Cuba. I migrated to the US in the 1990’s. I used to live in New Jersey with the rest of my nuclear family, but I moved to New Hampshire in 2000.
LHC: What do you like most about working at Lamprey Health Care?
Adriana: I love making a difference for the patients and the people who I work with. When people are able to communicate effectively, and making their work easier (through interpretation and using our skills with Kindness and Empathy). It makes my day!
LHC: Did you always want to work in healthcare? What would you do if you weren't doing this?
Adriana: This is my first time working in Healthcare. I consider myself a bridge between access and opportunity, and the role of interpreter is a meaningful way to be that bridge. I am doing many other things in my life, including volunteering for SCORE, a nonprofit organization that helps small businesses succeed, and growing a coaching business to support entrepreneurs of all types.
LHC: What are some of your favorite things to do outside of work?
Adriana: I love reading, hiking with my husband and our dog, Hades, and traveling to discover new places. I love going to the White Mountains and exploring new trails.
LHC: What advice would you give to others to be healthy?
Adriana: Eating well, taking breaks during the day, (stretching and connecting with your coworkers, family and friends). I also recommend exercise for the body and the mind. Keep moving!
