Colorectal cancer is the third highest type of cancer in the U.S. The good news is colon cancer has a high survival rate if caught early. That's why the best prevention is early detection and why you should start screenings at 45.
Recently, the guidelines and recommendations for colon cancer screening changed to start at age 45 (instead of 50.) If you're 45 years or older, talk to your provider about screening. You may be eligible for at-home Colon Cancer Screening, an easier alternative to visual (or structural) tests. Here is a fact sheet from the American Cancer Society with more information.
